If you’re a college football fan (and let’s be honest — who isn’t?), you know how confusing it’s become over the past several years — you almost have to check the sports page or Internet every morning to see which conference your favorite team will be playing in next year. The old reliable Southwest Conference that was around for so many years and featured great rivalries between area schools changed when Arkansas headed for the Southeastern Conference and Texas, Texas A&M, Baylor, and Texas Tech joined the Big 8 Conference to form the Big 12. SMU, TCU, and Rice went west to the Western Athletic Conference and all of a sudden the Southwestern Conference and its great rivalries was a thing of the past.

Now TCU will be playing in the Big East next year and it appears that Texas A&M may be headed to the SEC where their big rivalry might be with the Florida Gators or Auburn Tigers instead of the Longhorns or Red Raiders. If that wasn’t bad enough, now there’s word that Texas and Texas Tech might be headed to the Pac 10 where they may be playing Oregon and Washington on a regular basis.
